James C. Burnett's middle initial comes from his will. His tombstone does not include a middle initial. The tombstone was discovered, almost buried, in the Shepherd Cemetery, 8 miles from Shelbyville Kentucky, by Kevin Stephenson and Milton Burnett during the summer of 1996. The cemetery is now on land, and is in a state of extreme disrepair. The weeds had to be knocked down to even get to the gravesite. The tombstone had been toppled over, and Kevin and Milton reset it on its base.
