Dorothy & Carroll's son Brig. Gen. Carroll E. "Hap" Adams Jr. was killed in Vietnam while a pilot of a helicopter along with Maj. Gen. John A. B. Dillard Jr. They died May 12, 1970.

Dorothy died aged 89y at Franklin County Public Hospital; resident of Route 2 Charlemont; born Pawtucket R.I., attended its schools and graduated Weaton College; in 1946 returned to Charlemont to live in 200-year old French homestead; former member of Dorothy Quincy Hancock Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution, Charlemont and Buckland historical societies, and St Jame's Episcopal church in Greenfield; she and her husband were active in Franklin County Republican programs in Greenfield; besides her husband of 63 years, she leaves a son Henry C of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; funeral Tuesday in the church, burial in Swan Point cemetery, Providence R.I. [published Saturday, July 2, 1983, Springfield Union]
