He was a lifelong educator, teaching math & coaching basketball throughout Louisiana. He also was an assistant superintendent of Caddo Parish Public Schools and was instrumental in the building of Booker T. Washington High School. His last teaching job was at Parkway in Bossier. Clyde also served the city of Shreveport for 27 years as the superintendent of SPAR helping to establish many of its programs and parks throughout the city. Clyde was an avid sports fan and officiated at high school and college basketball and football games for over 40 years. In his later years he enjoyed woodworking and restoring antiques for family and friends.
Mr. Stallcup was predeceased by his first wife, Ethel Marie Mouser, to whom he was married for 31 years. He was also predeceased by his second wife, Creedie Jane Flood, to whom he was married for 31 years.
Surviving him are his son, Melvin Stallcup, his daughter, Patty Stallcup Lafargue, and son-in-law Norman Lafargue. Also surviving him are his 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Renzi Education and Art Center or the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The family also wishes to thank the many nurses, aides, and staff who have cared for him at Garden Park and the doctors and nurses at Willis Knighton Pierremont.
