Sept. 25, 1929 - Dec. 21, 2012 Vesta Lee Hone Gentillon, 83, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 21, 2012.

Vesta was born in Wapello, Idaho, the youngest of seven children to Ralph and Allie Rollison Hone. As a child of the Great Depression, Vesta learned the value of hard work and thriftiness. Those traits have blessed her and her family.

She graduated from Blackfoot High School and worked as a telephone operator. She met her life-long sweetheart of 65 years, Emile Gentillon, at the Crystal Maze Dance Hall in Firth. They were married Aug. 12, 1947. Together they farmed and raised their family in Firth. Vesta worked at Cal Ranch Farm stores and retired from the R.T. French Company.

Nampa, Idaho, became their home after retirement. She enjoyed working at the LDS Family History Center there. Her life was centered around her family and she especially enjoyed visits from all of her grandchildren. Vesta had a green thumb and always had a fruitful garden with beautiful roses and home-grown tomatoes.

Survivors include her husband, Emile E. Gentillon of Nampa; three children, Rita (Dean) Shafer of Nampa, Randy (Cindy) Gentillon and Kathy (David) Heninger, both of Idaho Falls; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Noel H. Gentillon.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the York Road LDS Church building, 1291 W. 65th South in Idaho Falls, under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel of Nampa. The family will visit with friends from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Thursday, before services at the church. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Firth.
