Elizabeth (Washington) Strobel is still living and maintains her home in Angleton, being one of the venerable and revered pioneer women of Brazoria County. She is a daughter of Gilbert Gray Washington and Elizabeth (Wharton). Washington, the former a member of an old and distinguished family of Brunswick County, Virginia, and the latter of Albemarle County, South Carolina. The Washington family sent representatives to Tennessee about the year 1799, and the name became prominently identified with the pioneer history of that commonwealth.
