William E. "Bill" O'Donnell, 79, of Jolly Ridge Road, Richmond, died Thursday afternoon, October 12, 2006, in Richmond Health & Rehabilitation Complex—Madison Manor.

He was born on April 17, 1927, in Madison County, Kentucky, the son of the late James Elby O'Donnell Sr. and Julia Forbes O'Donnell. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. O'Donnell was a retired groundskeeper for Whitehall State Shrine, a member of the Antioch Christian Church and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by: his wife of 62 years, Lucy Newby O'Donnell; two sons, Ricky O'Donnell (Carolyn) and Nelson O'Donnell (Debbie), both of Richmond; one daughter, Mae Mayne (Tim) of Richmond; one sister, Mary Hensley (Clarence) of Richmond; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2006, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, West Main Street, Richmond, with Bro. Scott Guiley officiating. Burial will follow in Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Rick Johnson, B.J. O'Donnell, George Hunter, Ed Robinson, Jimmy Cornelison and Harold Collins.
