John R. Lee, formerly of Baltimore, died at Peach Bottom, York County, PA, March 16th, in the 87th year of his age. He was a member of Captain Roney's company, thirty-ninth regiment, Maryland militia, Col. Fowler, Brig. General Stricker's brigade, General Samuel Smith commanding. He served at North Point and until the English left the river. Mr. Lee came to Baltimore about 1831 and engaged as master builder. He went to York County in 1838 and engaged to merchandising on the Tide Water canal during its construction. He afterwards engaged in building, and had retired from active life several years before his death. He leaves five sons and two daughters, John W. Lee of Baltimore, is his son, and John W. M. Lee, librarian of the Mercantile Library, is a grandson. John Lee, father of the deceased, was a soldier in the revolutionary army, and was a native of Harford County, Maryland.
