Larry D. "Dave" Halliwell, 69, passed away peacefully on Dec. 18, 2012.

Born on March 31, 1943, in Barberton to Merle and Evelyn (Workman) Halliwell, he was a resident of Doylestown most of his life. Larry and his wife, Marguerite, would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 29, 2012.

Retired from the F.W. Albrecht Grocery Co. as a meat cutter with 29 years of service, Larry was a member of Chippewa Fire Department for 43 years serving as a second lieutenant and as captain. He loved to drive the "Old Ford" (a 1936 Ford fire truck) in parades.

Larry was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society where he enjoyed working with the fish frys, and was past secretary and treasurer in 1974 of the Wayne County Fire & Rescue Association. He was also a member of Sons of American Legion Post 407, served four years as councilman with the Village of Doylestown and also volunteered with the Doylestown Police Department. Larry loved spending time with his family, cooking, fishing, taking bus trips and playing euchre.

Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Marguerite; a daughter, Lesa (Randy) Miller of Doylestown; a son, David Halliwell of Doylestown; grandchildren, Randy and Elizabeth; a brother, Gary (Shari) Halliwell of Orrville; sisters, Toni (Ronald) Zenar of Monroe Falls and Debbie (George) Moyer of Barberton; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 161 W. Clinton St., Doylestown, with Father Robert Stein as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends and family may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, with a Last Alarm service to be held at 7:45 p.m. Online obituary and guest registry are available at www.zakmonbarrenfh.com.
