FRANCIS RYCKMAN
Francis M. Ryckman, 82, died Feb. 11, 1944 at his home in Wayne county, near Confidence, Iowa. His entire life was spent in that vicinity. He as a son of Harvey and Eliza Ryckman, and was born at Confidence on Jan. 18, 1862.
He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Husted, Aug. 29, 1888, at Confidence, Iowa, by John Givens. To this union was born one child, Iowa V. Houston, who will make her home with her mother.
Although Francis and Mary Ellen had but one child, they helped raise nine grandchildren. Their whole life has been devoted to the comfort and happiness of their daughter and her family.
Mr. Ryckman leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife and daughter, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one half-brother, two nephews, one niece and a host of friends and neighbors.
He was a member of both the Christian church and the Odd Fellows lodge for 50 years.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church at Confidence, Feb. 13, 1944, conducted by Rev. Archie Beals. Interment was made in the Confidence cemetery.
