James Wythe "Jimmy" Pickett, 64, of Max Meadows died Saturday, April 5, 2008. Funeral service was held Wednesday, April 9, at 1 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Randy Morris and the Rev. Alyson Jenkins officiating. Interment was in West End Cemetery with American Legion Post 9 conducting graveside military rites.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents, James William and Nannie Rickey Pickett; and twin sister, Nancy P. Patterson.

Survivors include his wife, Treva U. Pickett of Max Meadows; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Wayne Moore, Tinkie and Mark Sayers, all of Max Meadows; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Lisa Pickett of Austinville; very special companions, Bitsy and Gurtie; a nephew, Duane Ayers of Wytheville; special cousins, Sheila Vaught of Speedwell, Wayne Linkous of Richmond, Dennis Linkous of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., and Eddie Linkous of Columbia, S.C.; 11 grandchildren, Jessie Sayers, Courtney Pickett, Logan Moore, Katie Sayers, Summer St. Amand, Travis Moore, Domonique Spencer, Zach Pickett, Warren Moore, Taylor Pickett and Samuel Pickett; and special friends, David Gwinn and Jimmy BeCraft, both of Wytheville. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
