George I. Kell, 162 York Road, prominent retired Cumberland County farmer, died unexpectedly this morning in the Carlisle Hospital after being stricken ill yesterday. He was 79 years old.
Born on May 13, 1885 in Ickesburg, Perry County, he was a son of the late Alfred and Marietta Ickes Kell. He was engaged in farming most of his life in South Middleton Township. He was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sue Lyter Kell, to whom he had been married for 51 years; two sons, George L. and C. Ross, both of RD6, and six grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 South Hanover Street. The Rev. J. William Arnold, pastor of the First United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in the Westminster Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday evening at the funeral home.
