Funeral services were held Wednesday for George C. Beason, age 73, who passed away in a Birmingham hospital Monday after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Beason was a member of a pioneer St. Clair family and was a successful farmer and business man. For many years he was a trustee and steward of Dearmans Chapel Methodist church, always taking an active interest in affairs of the church. He was well and favorably known throughout the county for his interest in public affairs and served several years on the County Board of Education. Funeral services were held from the Steele Methodist church with Rev. J. C. Simmons and Rev. J. L McHugh officiating, Brown Service in charge. Burial was in the nearby cemetery. He is survived by the widow, three sons, Farris, Hollis and Grady, of Birmingham, two daughters, Mrs. Dons Summers, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mrs. Lois Russell, of Steele, three brothers, Victor, of Birmingham, O. N. and B. L., of Steele, eleven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
