Philip Piper Grafius

Philip Piper Grafius passed away at his late home 1801 Mifflin street, Saturday morning at ten o'clock after an illness of one week. Death was due to a heart condition.

He was born April 4, 1850, in Alexandria and thus was aged at the time of his death 85 years, 3 months, and 2 days. He was a son of Henry Grafius and Margaret Piper Grafius. Mr. Grafius was united in marriage with Mary Virginia Piper, February 11, 1874. He was well-known in Huntingdon, having driven the old ice wagon in town some thirty-odd years ago, and later having conducted a confectionery store at his residence. He retired from this business nearly two years ago. He was a consistent member of the Fifteenth Street Methodist church.

Surviving besides his wife are the following sons and daughters: Miss Mary Grafius, 1323 Mifflin street, Huntingdon; John Grafius of Wilmington, Delaware; Paul Grafius of Pittsburgh; and Mrs. Fannie McDivitt at home. Also surviving are one grandson, John Albert Grafius; a sister, Mrs. Henry Hoffman, Petersburg, and a brother, J. Albert Grafius, 412 Tenth street, Huntingdon.

The funeral services will be held at Brown's funeral home, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by his pastor, Rev. O. B. Poulson. Interment will be made in the Alexandria cemetery.
