Mary Josephine “Marie” (Noonan) Frick Gwinn, 79, of Stillwater, OK died on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 in Stillwater. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Kenneth J. Harder officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on March 18, 1930 in Adare County, Limerick, Ireland to Michael Noonan and Elizabeth (Murphy) Noonan. She received her education at Sisters of Mercy Convent in Adare County.
She went to England in 1948 where she met Bob Frick from Yale, OK while he was serving in the United States Air Force. They were married in 1953 in Margate, England and to this union three children were born, Verla, Gary, and Randy. They moved to Oklahoma in October of 1954 and Bob was killed in an accident in 1958.
She married Claude M. Gwinn on August 14, 1961 in Stillwater, OK and together they had one child, Kayla. They were married 46 years until his death on May 16, 2007.
She received a degree in cosmetology in 1959. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, exercising with friends, and volunteering at Stillwater Medical Center. She loved her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her.
Her delight was becoming a Senior Citizen. She was a member of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Lakeside Golf Club, Total Rehab Warm Water Pool, and SMC Auxiliary Volunteer Program.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Spraktes of Clear Lake, CA and Randy Frick of Tacoma, WA; two daughters, Verla Holguin of Stillwater, OK and Kayla Gwinn of Key Largo, FL; and three grandchildren, Christopher Frick of Dallas, TX, Jazmin Holguin of Stillwater, OK, and Heather Spraktes of Clear Lake, CA.
