Rachel died peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, after a short illness.

She was born Feb. 2, 1915, in Hyde Park, Utah. She was the daughter of Alma John (Pat) Hancey and Ellen Thurston Hancey. She married Don W. Olsen on Jan. 10, 1934. He died Feb. 22, 1966.

She is survived by her children Don E. "Ed" (Sandra) Olsen and Sherrill O. (Ronald) Grove; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, seven siblings and one great-grandchild.

Renowned for her beautiful flowers and
willingness to share "starts" with everyone, Rachel was said to be able to make a broom handle blossom.

Rachel loved almost all animals, raccoons being an exception, and virtually everyone she met. She was an exceptionally hard worker all of her life.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the College-Young Ward chapel located at 2394 W. 2200 South in Logan. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
