. Esther Pirtle, 92, of Oquawka, Ill., died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 1995, at the Oaklane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stronghurst, Ill.
. Born July 16, 1903, in Rozetta, Ill., she was the daughter of James D. and Jessie Bricker McNamara. She married James 0. Pirtle on Sept. 1, 1928, in Wilmington, N.C. He died May 1, 1986.
. Mrs. Pirtle attended rural Henderson County schools and Media High School. Following high school she studied nursing for a time. She was a home-maker.
. She was a member of the Oquawka United Methodist Church and a member of Oquawka Rebekah Lodge 360 for over 50 years. She enjoyed square dancing and flowers.
. Survivors include one son, James H. Pirtle of Oquawka, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, one son, one sister and one brother.
. Friends may call at the Turnbull Funeral Home in Oquawka, where the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.
. The funeral for Mrs. Pirtle will be 11 a.m. Friday at Turnbull Funeral Home with the Rev. William Schlobohm of Oquawka United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Oquawka Cemetery.
. A memorial has been established to the Schlotzhaur Home in Oquawka.
