Ethel Mae was born January 21, 1906 in Elmo, Missouri, the daughter of Samuel Edgar and Pearl Edith (Woods) Livengood. She attended school through the 8th grade at the Arcola School in Turin, Iowa.
Ethel and Edward Struble were united in marriage on June 1, 1930 in Elmo, Missouri. To this union, six children were born. The couple farmed in the Castana and Mapleton, Iowa areas. Edward passed away on July 7, 1998 in Onawa.
She was a member of the Castana Community Church, the Ladies' Aid, the Legion Auxiliary, was a Gold Star Mother, and belonged to the Neighborly Pals Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting.
Ethel is survived by four children, Donald (Helen) Struble of La Pine, OR, Wayne Struble of Sioux City, IA, Alyce (Keith) Davis of Denver, CO; and Carolyn (Tom) Calkins of Reeds, MO; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her parents; two children, Erma Mae Adams and Stanley Dean Struble; three brothers; and four sisters.
