Grandma Erwin Is Very Low
Dick Erwin passed through Elida Tuesday enroute to McLean, Texas, to be at the bedside of his mother, Mrs. E.A. Erwin whose death if not already a fact, is hourly imminent.
Her husband died at Elida about 1929 on the south-of-town place now owned and occupied by Waldo Herbert and family.

Buried at Elida Monday
Mollie Susan Douglas Erwin, wife of E.A. Erwin, passed away February 18, 1940 at 2:15 p.m. after a long illness having had a paralytic stroke Sept 4, 1939.
She was born in Grayson County, Texas, August 6, 1861. At passing she was 79 years, 6 months and 12 days of age.
Her husband, E.A. Erwin preceded her in death July 19, 1930, succumbing south of Elida at the present Waldo Herbert farm home.
She was converted at the age of 15, joining the Methodist church, of which she was a member until her
passing.
To this union were born ten children, 8 boys and 2 girls. Two of the sons preceded her in death. The children are: J.A. Erwin, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Mattie Adkins, Houston, Texas; D.M. Erwin, Corona, New Mexico; Rev. S.H. Erwin, Fellows, California; B.F. Erwin, Roswell, New Mexico; Mrs. A.B. Christian, McLean, Texas; W.E. Erwin, Portales, New Mex. One sister, Mrs. Will Cassidy, Weston, Texas; a brother, S.H. Douglas, Willow, Oklahoma, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Jennie Douglas, Erick, Oklahoma, 45 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pall Bearers were: O.D. Lambirth, Waldo Herbert, Embry Wall, S.H. Stevenson, F. Gremshaw, Babe Killgore.
Bro. Bynum, assisted by Rev. Brown, pastor of the Methodist church of McLean, was in charge of the
funeral service. C.S. Rice Mortuary of McLean, Texas, was in charge.
