Betty J. McFarland, 83, of Port Charlotte, Florida died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 at Signature Healthcare of Port Charlotte. She was born March 20, 1931 in St. Petersburg, Florida to the late John and Catherine Milldollar and moved to Port Charlotte eight years ago from Hayesville, NC. She was a Baptist. Survived by her loving family, daughters, Mary Ann (Robert) Crain of Port Charlotte and Betty Ruth (Tammy) McFarland of Cedartown, GA; sons, John Allen (Sue) McFarland of Killeen, TX, James Anderson McFarland of Elizabethton, TN and Barney Edwin (Susie) McFarland of Tallahassee, FL; a sister, Mary Annalee Hart of Hayesville, NC; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her husband, Byron Allen "Barney" McFarland preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held in Hayesville, NC followed by interment in the Hayesville Baptist-Presbyterian Cemetery.
