For many decades in the 20th Century, Joseph [Cyr] Sears was the subject of many newspaper articles and having been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the Man with the Most Children in the United States. Two articles on the matter were written - one in 1910 and another in 1932. He was attributed to having 36 children from two different marriages. The newspaper articles indicate that he had 4 sets of twins. He was born in Saint-Alexandre d'Iberville and emigated to the US when he was 13. He was married by 15 and lived Fall River, New Bedford, Taunton, Hyde Park and Dedham Massachusetts. He was one of the children of Amable Cyr and Lucie Monast. Several of his siblings also moved to Massachusetts, marrying, and living in Taunton and Fall River.
