Everett L. Barnes, 71, 606 W. Third St., died early this morning at King's Daughters' Hospital following a long illness.

A native of Bedford, Ky., he had spent most of his life in Madison. He was a member of the Prospect Baptist church at Saluda and the Eagles Lodge, Madison. He was a World War I veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Nannie, three sisters: Mrs. Flossie Mulligan, Milton, Ky., and Mrs. Bertha Holt and Mrs. Frances Hoskins, both of Madison, a brother, Herbert, Champaign, Ill., and several nieces and nephews. A daughter and two step-sons, preceded him in death.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Gans Funeral Home with burial in Springdale Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. tonight.
