"The people of the village of Glover and vicinity were unusually saddened Sunday morning, when it was learned that Mrs. A. P. Bean [Ellen Day Bean] had died during the previous night. Mr. and Mrs. Bean had been occupying their cottage at Stone Pond during the sumner and she had been in her usual state of health up to the time of her death, which occurred there Saturday night, it is probable that the cause of death was valvular heart trouble as she has had previous trouble in that direction, but there was no warning that this was the case. Mr. Bean awoke about 3 o'clock in the morning to find that death had come, evidently without a struggle and very suddenly.

Mrs. Bean was born in Sheffield 56 years ago, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Day. She was united in marriage to A. P. Bean March 13, 1874. In her home she was ever a devoted wife and mother, endearing herself to all who knew her. She was an active member of the Universalist church, deeply interested in all its work, here as in other circles of society including the Glover grange, in which she took , an active part, she will be greatly missed. She leaves beside her husband, two sons, R. A. Bean, treasurer of the Orleans Savings Bank and Trust Company of Orleans and M. A. Bean of this town, two brothers, Auburn Day of West Medford, Mass., and Anson Day of Sheffield, who will have the sympathy of their friends in this, their great bereavement. The funeral services were held at their home in Glover Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. W. A. Warner of Barton assisted by Kev. G. L. Shaeffer of Orleans officiating. The interment was in the family lot in the village cemetery." (Orleans County Monitor, 28 Sep 1910)
