STATESBORO, Ga. — Mrs. Roger Lee "Sandy" Akins Cribbs, age 81, passed away Tuesday evening at her residence, following a brief illness. Sandy was born October 15, 1931, in Statesboro, Ga., and was a graduate of Statesboro High School. She married Edward Waldo Cribbs and the two traveled with his military career. They made Savannah their home, where she was employed as a school bus driver for several years. Sandy returned to the family farm in Statesboro in 1996 and made it her home until her death. She was a longtime member of Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Ruby Jones Akins and Roger Akins; and a sister, Elizabeth Akins Nych.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy C. and Billy Anderson; and two grandsons, Justin and Bradley, all of Savannah; two sisters and brothers-inlaw, Mary and Loy Mallard of Brunswick and Emily and Bob Burn of Daufuskie Island, S.C.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Jones and Betty Akins of Ft. Pierce, Fla. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church with Elder John Scott officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews and cousins.

Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
