LAYTON -
David Henry Whitesides, age 83, passed away Wed., Oct. 10, 2001 at Rocky Mtn. Care Center.

He was born Feb. 27, 1918 in Layton the son of John Heber and Arta Williams Whitesides. David married Viola Porter on March 8, 1938 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked at Hill Air Force Base at the Directorate of Distribution retiring after 37 years.

David was a member of the LDS church and served as a High Priest. He was a member of the Layton Jaycees, Layton City Planning Commission, Air Force Association, and served as President of the Utah Chapter, AFA. David loved music, golf, piano, guitar, ukulele, harmonica, and wintering at Salton Sea, CA and Arizona with his wife and many wonderful friends.

Surviving are his wife, four sons, David Richard "Rick" (Lynda) Whitesides, Littleton, CO; Michael J. (Angie) Whitesides, Germany; Jay Heber (Peggy) Whitesides, Ogden; Kelly Porter Whitesides, Layton; one daughter, Susan (Dickey) Jones, Dallas, TX; 18 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Richard "Dick" (Phyllis), Kaysville; three sisters-in-law, Marge Whitesides, Layton; Faye Barlow, AZ; and Alyce Brown, Colorado Springs, Co. Preceded in death by parents, and three brothers, Dale, Ben, and Johnny.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Hills Ward 2300 N. University Park. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Tanner Clinic, Davis Hospital, Ogden Regional Hospital and the Rocky Mountain Care Center.
