NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Bonnie J. Breniman (nee Brodie), 88, a resident of Naperville, since 2014, formerly of Elkhart from 1967 to 2014, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, at Silverado Memory Care in Naperville.
She was born July 1, 1928, in Lyons, Colo. Beloved wife of the late Warren E. Breniman, whom she married June 10, 1950, and who preceded her in death Feb. 29, 2012, loving mother of Ward (Naoko Kuriyama) Breniman of Toyko, Japan and Laurel (Dan) Blewett of Naperville, adored grandmother of Chiaki Kuriyama and Catherine Blewett; devoted daughter of the late Chester and Marshall Brodie; dear sister of David (Carolyn) Brodie of Longmont, Colo.; sister-in-law of Mary Jane (Richard) John of California; fond, aunt, great-aunt and friend to many.
Bonnie was proud of growing up in the Rocky Mountains and earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in Fort Collins and a masters of education from Indiana University in South Bend.
After marrying, Bonnie resided in Longmont, Colo., and Needham, Mass., and moved to Elkhart, in 1967 where she taught eighth-grade social studies for many years at North Side Jr. High School in Elkhart.
She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Elkhart and enjoyed doing cross stitch and reading.
Services will be private.
Future Inurnment will be in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.
