Elmer J Lawrence, 52, died Friday morning at his farm home 5 1/2 miles southeast of Hennessey. Although in ill-health for some time, his death was unexpected and the announcement shocked relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the First Christian church in Hennessey at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, with the pastor, A Paul Cook, officiating. Many relatives and friends from out of the city were in attendance. Interment was made in Hennessey cemetery.

Mr Lawrence came to Oklahoma as a young man and resided for a time near Kingfisher and later in the Loyal neighborhood before locating southeast of Hennessey.

He is survived by his wife of the home, one son, Bob, who is with the Air Corps at Tulsa; six sisters, Mrs Terry Brownback of Corbin, Kansas; Mrs Fannie Allen, of Tulsa; Mrs Myrtle Gassaway, of Clinton; Mrs Nancy Walton, of Lexington, Mo and Mrs Eva Stock and Mrs Goldie Montgomery, both of Hennessey, and Will James of Norman, a brother. His parents and a brother, Victor, preceded him in death.
