Services for Violet Lucille Hiland, 70, lifelong Pittsboro resident, were Friday, Sept. 16 (1988) at the Pittsboro United Methodist Church with Rev. George Purnell officiating. Burial was in the Lizton K of P Cemetery. David A. Hall Mortuary, Pittsboro, was in charge of arrangements and calling.
A native of Hendricks County, she was born April 14, 1918 to William and Minnie (Shirley) Dillon. On Jan. 20, 1938, she married Marvin L. (Milt) Hiland, who survives. Mrs. Hiland died Tuesday, Sept. 13, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Surviving with her husband are son, Mickey Wayne Hiland; daughter, Sandra K. Marsh; sister, Marjorie J. Gibbs; four grandchildren, one great-grandson and one step-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Lee Hiland, and a brother, Marvin Dillon.
