She was the daughter of Gad and Mary Smith Allen. Her first husband was Samuel N. Brewer. Sometime after his death, she remarried to George W. Smith, whom she also survived. She died at the age of 90, and according to her death record, she died of Interstitial Nephritis (Chronic) and Arteriosclerosis. At the time of her death she resided at 27 Crown Street in Westfield, Massachusetts, and she was buried at Pine Hill Cemetery on April 8, 1912.
