"Mr. and Mrs. Ira Emery passed the 63rd anniversarv of their marriage March 27th. Although they reside with their daughter, Mrs. Cromwell Bean, they are both quite well and active for so aged a couple. Mrs. Emery will be 87 next May and yet her eyesight is such that she knits fine lace from thread. Mr. Emery walked to the village and back, a distance of over two miles, his 84th birthday, March 23. May they be spared to spend many more years together." (Orleans County Monitor, April 01, 1901)
"Sixty-five years ago March 27th, Mr. Ira Emery and Miss Lavina Camp were joined in the bonds of matrimony. It is seldom a couple reach their 65th marriage anniversary. Their combined ages is 175 years; he being 86 and she 89 years of age. Four children have been born to them, two sons and two daughters, only one of whom is now living, Mrs. Cromwell Bean. They have two grandchildren, Dr. Kate Sanborn of Medway, Mass., and Carl W. Bean of Glover, also two great grandchildren, Ida and Marjorle Bean." (Orleans County monitor., March 30, 1903)
