Aaron Drew Hargett, 25 passed away of Cockayne Syndrome (CS) at his home in Harper, Kansas on December 8, 2012. He was born on May 31, 1987 at Asbury Hospital in Salina, Kansas to Dan Hargett and Mary Ann Grant.
He attended school at Chaparral High School and graduated with the Class of 2007. At that time he became a member of the Harper Police Department and Deputy Sheriff with the Harper County Sheriff's Office.
If one word could describe Aaron, it would be Love. Even though he had CS it didn't stop him from living his life to the fullest. Because of his Faith in Jesus and that his soul was so pure he didn't have an enemy in this world. Everyone that he would meet would instantly fall in love with him. Aaron became a member of the St. Joan of Arc Parish in Harper, Kansas, December 29, 1999. Aaron was so in love with Jesus it was easy for him to live and share his faith with anyone. Aaron loved his family and friends and was constantly calling them to see how they were doing and telling them he loved them. Aaron loved being a police man. He ate, slept, and talked about his service to the law enforcement all the time. Aaron loved so many things, K-State Football, Cowboys Football team and meeting Troy Aikman and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Aaron would spend hours at his work bench building birdhouses to give away. Aaron enjoyed fishing with his dad and trips to Colorado to fish with his cousin Christina. Aaron loved John Wayne, Guns, Girls with Blonde hair and pretty blue eyes, Alan Jackson, laughing; he always had a huge smile on his face. Aaron loved to travel and has traveled all over the United States from the east to the west coast. He traveled to Wirrel, England twice for Amy and Friends Cockayne Syndrome retreats and made so many new friends that had CS. Aaron had friends from all over the world. He loved talking to them through facebook, a total of 609 and counting. He loved babies, Uno, PS3, pumpkin pie, and chocolate malts. Most of all, Aaron loved his mother Mary Ann, who was by his side to deal with his CS everyday and made sure that it never interfered with any of his dreams. Aaron was full of unconditional love for everyone and was always a blessing to his family.
Aaron is preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Tina Grant of Attica, Kansas and Dirk Combest of Dodge City, Kansas.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann and Doug Ricke of Harper, Kansas; father, Dan and Shauna Hargett of Clearwater, Kansas; sisters Chelsey Hargett and friend Matthew Coomes of Lamar, Colorado; Reanna and Matt Loesch of Attica, Kansas and Kaitlyn and Justin Tatro of Attica, Kansas; brother Kyler Hargett of Clearwater, Kansas; grandparents Nancy and Roger Hargett of Emporia, Kansas, Delmar and Bev Ricke of Harper, Kansas, and Marge Combest of Dodge City, Kansas; niece Carlene Losch and nephew Waylon Losch, very special aunts Caroline Sena and Jane Manna; and girlfriend Shaneese Wedman of Anthony, Kansas. He will be missed by so many other relatives and friends.
