Mrs. Smyntek passed away Dec. 7, 2012, at Lake Health West Medical Center.
Born June 20, 1927, in Cleveland, she was a resident of Mentor before moving to Willoughby Hills 26 years ago.
Roxie was a graduate of Collinwood High School and an avid reader. She was a loving, energetic, spontaneous and faithful person. She was direct, and you always knew where you stood with her.
Roxie was a 30-year employee of Higbee's and Dillard's selling women clothing and then was owner/operator of the Roxie Fashion Shop, a women's clothing store.
Survivors are her husband of 30 years, Larry; sons, Douglas (Diane) Wardell of Kirtland, Rodger (Julie) Wardell of Connecticut, Russell (Cathy) Wardell of Euclid; daughter, Dru (Will) Hoyt of Scio, Ohio; and 44 grandchildren. Roxie was also the stepmother of Stephen (Vivian) Smyntek of Willoughby Hills, Larry (Therese) Smyntek Jr. of Florida, Lynn (Bill) Ostrowski of Colorado and Lisa (John) Ceinski of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Gladys (Munhall) Beutel; and brother, Robert Beutel.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Road and Route 91). Private family burial will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland.
The family suggests contributions may be made in Roxie's memory to the Body of Christ Community Church.
