She was born June 10, 1920, in Lawrence County to Albert Owens and Mary Ann “Molly” Wright Owens. She was a nurse in Morgan and Lawrence counties for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Neal Hensley; five brothers, Wyatt Owens, Chester Owens, Pelham Owens, Vincent Owens and Norris Owens; five sisters, Lula Callahan, Dora Johnson, Eula McCullough, Era Dell Pittman and Myrtle Owens; and grandson, David Baggett.
Survivors include one son, Michael Hensley and his wife, Lu Ann, of Birmingham; three daughters, Mary Ann Hensley of Decatur, Brenda Sandlin Baggett of Georgia, and Linda Shelton and her husband, Marshall, of Trinity; two brothers, Oswald Owens and his wife, Pauline, of Danville, and Jack Owens of Moulton; one sister, Laverne Tapscott of Decatur; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a very special neighbor and friend, Gwen Stephenson of Decatur; and special caregivers, Sheila Jackson and Sue Livingston, both of Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Robert Tapscott, Marshall Shelton, Jeff Shelton, Jay Hughes, Keith Drake and Bobby Suggs.
