Margaret Rogers Swank was born September 8, 1921 to George and Ethel Tucker Rogers in Stringtown, OK. She married James W. Swank, Sr. September 8, 1942. Margaret received a BBA in Finance from the University of Oklahoma. She worked as Executive Secretary for the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission and the University of Oklahoma. She taught business education in several Oklahoma public schools. Margaret and her husband Jim spent most of their life in Norman, where they raised their children, but also resided in Lindsay, Ardmore and Lawton. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, Norman, Ardmore and Stringtown, and served as a Deacon and was a member of several women's circles. She was also a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. Margaret was preceded in death by husband, James W. Swank, Sr.; daughters, Elaine Bagley and Carol Swank; grandson, Brooks A. Ward; brother, Leroy Rogers; and three sisters, Kathryn Campbell, Jean Damerow, and Ruth Shipman.She is survived by her son, Jim Swank, Jr. of Oklahoma City; daughter and son-in-law, Mickey and Bart Ward of Oklahoma City; grandson, Tyler Swank of Oklahoma City; granddaughters: Jennifer Bagley of Tulsa, Molly and husband Kai Boettcher of Germany, Jill Swank of Oklahoma City; and great-granddaughters: Laney Boettcher of Germany and Cori Seymour of Oklahoma City.Services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the chapel at First Presbyterian Church, Oklahoma City.Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City, 1001 N.W. 25th Street, OKC, 73106. The family wishes to recognize Loy Bowman, Margaret's dedicated hospice volunteer.
