JUDSON O. BOZARD PASSES SUNDAY AT HOME IN HUMPHREY

Successful Farmer and Native of Area Celebrated 91st Birthday March 4; Funeral Held

One of our oldest and most highly respected citizens went to his eternal reward last Sunday noon at the remarkable age of 91 years. He was Judson O. Bozard, who succumbed to a long illness of complications incident to his advanced age.

Mr. Bozard was born on Bozard Hill, March 4, 1855, in the town of Humphrey, and had lived on the Five Mile his entire lifetime with the exception of four years in the state of Pennsylvania.

For many years he lived on the Five Mile road just north of the village corporation line but about eight years ago returned to the farm in the town of Humphrey where he had since resided.

A farmer by occupation, he operated successfully in that capacity and was known to all as a man of the highest integrity, his word was as good as his bond. Until a few years ago, he not only ran his farm, but also found time to plow gardens in the village each spring as well as other farm jobs.

After the death of his wife, Mae M. Barber Bozard, on January 28, 1927, at the age of 55, his daughter, Ella Mae Bozard, kept house for him and cared for her father until the end. He was feted at a birthday party by a gathering of the family last week Monday.

Surviving are two daughters, Miss Ella Mae and Mrs. Marcia Ford of Allegany; two sons, Howard R. Bozard of North Second street and Arthur Bozard of Middletown; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Another son, Glenn W., passed away on the Five Mile two months ago.

The remains were taken to the home of his son, Howard, where funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at three o'clock. Rev. Shields T. Hardin, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Olean, officiated, and the remains were laid to rest in the Five Mile cemetery.

The pallbearers were Henry Dreyer, Howard Prentiss, Francis Geary, Erwin Noll, Herman Bozard, Beecher Pearl.
