Alfred M. Christensen, 78, Green Lake, died at his home Friday after a lingering illness.
Born Feb. 19, 1891, at Racine, he was the son of Jens and Karen Clausen Christensen. He was educated at Racine, was a retired caretaker of homes on Green Lake's lakeshore and had served as Green Lake County sheriff from 1941 to 1944.
He was a member of the Green Lake Masonic Lodge and of the American Legion. He served in World War I. He married Hazel Voge Nov. 5, 1919.
Mr. Christensen is survived by his widow; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Jorgenson of Mather, and Mrs. Anna Merrill of West Allis; and three brothers, Herbert of Racine, Clifford of California and Edward of the State of Washington.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Wilson Funeral Home of West Racine, the Rev. Roy Deming of Racine officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Racine.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon, where a Masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral arrangements were made by Lewis D. Egbert, Green Lake.
