When only six months old, she came to Kansas with her parents, who settled on a homestead one-half mile south of Jewell. She resided in the Jewell community, attending the public school of that city, until she was a young lady.
In 1895 she married Elwood Ross of Beloit, Kansas. To this union, three daughters were born.
She moved to the Logan community with her husband in 1898, living on a farm on Bow Creek until 1902 when they moved to their farm three and one-half miles southeast of Logan - residing there until March of 1942, when they moved to the present home in Logan. [NW corner of the intersection of Logan and Adams Streets]
She became a member of the Evangelical Church in early life and transferred to the Asbury Methodist Church of Logan. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a good friend and neighbor.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her husband, Elwood, on September 30, 1950; and a daughter, Adelaide Baird on January 10, 1953. She was the last of her generation, as her six brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Mitchell and her husband Stanley, of Sacramento, California; one grandson, Leland Ross Baird and wife Betty; two great grand-daughters, Dedra Ann Baird and Mari Marlo Baird; a son-in-law, James W. Baird and a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Logan. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan.
