HAZEL EMILY HOPKINS CHRISTOPHER was born June 10, 1906 in Caroline County, Maryland, the daughter of the late Phillip and Sadie E. Williamson Hopkins. She married William Earl Christopher and they had 12 children. She resided most of her life in the house next to Dover Drawbridge that spanned over the Choptank River connecting Talbot Co. and Caroline Co., where her husband was bridge tender. Most that knew her, whether related or not, called her "Aunt Hazel".
She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed baking and making cakes for many people, and she would visit shut-ins and nursing home residents. She attended Bethlehem Wesleyan Church and had helped with Vacation Bible School for many years.
