Obituary - Mrs. Sims, an aged and well-known resident of Servia, dropped dead on the street last Saturday afternoon. She had been in poor health for some time, but was improving somewhat, and on Saturday afternoon went to call on some neighbors.

She was at the house of Mr. Pennington when the rainstorm came up and, thinking she could rush home before the rain started, she started in as much haste as her enfeebled condition would allow. She had only taken a few steps from the gate when she dropped to the ground and expired before anyone could reach her.

Mary Etta Sims was born Apr. 6, 1826, in Franklin Co., Pa., died July 28, 1894, age 68 yrs, 3 mos, 22 days. She united with the Christian church at New Madison about 50 years ago, under the preaching of Rev. Woods. She leaves 2 sons, 2 daughters, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and many other relatives to mourn.

(Servia, Indiana 1834-2011, compiled by Gladys Airgood, p55)

NOTE: It is an assumption that she is buried in Fairview based on the fact that her husband is buried there and that she actually died in the town of Servia.
