Garland "Garvin" Adcock, 96, of Monticello, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, at Bryant Health Care in Bryant.

Born March 24, 1912, in Chicot County, he was the son of the late Edgar Ernest Adcock and Virginia Elizabeth Barnett Adcock.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Green Hill Baptist Church.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella Maddox Adcock; an infant son, Matthew Franklin Adcock; a daughter, Earlie Mae Ward; and a granddaughter, Tonya Denay Adcock.


Survivors include three sons, Ernest Adcock and wife, Daisy Mae, of Wilmar, William Adcock and wife, Marie, of Hamburg and Charles Adcock and wife, Dovie, of Bryant; a daughter, Ella Mae Gorman of Destrehan, La.; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.


Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, December 3) at Green Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Starnes officiating. Burial was at Rash Cemetery with arrangements by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home.


Pallbearers were grandsons Frankie Adcock, Quenton Adcock, Chuck Adcock, Pete Adcock, Anthony Adcock and Randy Adcock.


Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons Colby Adcock, Joseph Adcock, Daniel Cox, Scott McCabe, Matt Adcock, Brandon Cox and B.J. Nowlen.
