Mrs Levi Ellis, who has been in frail health, passed away Sunday at the age of 81 years, four months & 15 days. Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the Grace U B Church, of which she had been a member for 65 years, conducted by Revs Rittenhouse & Hindbaugh. Internment was in the Bremen Cemetery.
Sarah A Ringle was born in Stark county, Ohio, Dec 19, 1837. She came to this community with her parents at the age of two years when it was a wilderness, and has resided here the entire intervening 79 years.
In 1856 she was united in marriage with Ezra Hess, who was killed in the war of the rebellion.
Three children were born to them, a son who died in infancy, Mrs I Frank Wine of Bremen and Mrs George Fulk of Canton, O.
May 14, 1867, she was again united in marriage with Levi Ellis, who died some six years ago.
To them three children were born, Elvin D Ellis, Mrs William Kinzie and Birt C Ellis, all of Bremen.
Mrs Ellis is also survived by two step-daughters, Mrs E V Bates of San Jose, California, and Mrs Lawrence Edell of Bremen; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three sisters Mrs John Walters, Mrs Benjamin Knoblock and Mrs Henry H Miller; one brother Harrison Ringle, and many less near relatives and friends.
