Oliver was born in a log cabin in Doniphan County, KS., the son of Frank and Lena Mae Crum Whitney. He was raised in Horton, KS. and attended Horton schools. He moved to Florida in recent years and was a carryout for Winn Dixie Grocery until a week before his death.
Oliver was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was a former member of the Union while working at Boeing.
He married Martha Donavan. They were divorced. He married Violet Maloney in December 1983. Violet preceded him in death in 1983.
Survivors include a Son, Randy Whitney, Ripley, W. VA., two daughters, Kay Carr and Caroline Hamm, both of Hillsboro, two Brothers, Ralph F. Whitney and Elmer Whitney, both of Horton, KS., two Sisters, Ora Higley and Jean Bryan, both of Wichita, KS., five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Horton, KS.
