Artalissa is said to have been born in the old Cheraws Distict (now Marion County), South Carolina. Artalissa married Edward "Ned" Young Terrell, 21 Dec. 1782 in Marion County, South Carolina.
They moved to the Mississippi Territory between 1800-1810, as they were on the Mississippi 1810 Census. Artalissa died in 1811, probably of complications of childbirth.
Children of Artalissa and Edward Terrell:
1) John Terral (1784-1828)
2) Edward Young Terral, Rev. (1786-1877)
3) Joshua Terral (1788-1866)
4) Mary "Polly" Terral (Hodges) (1798-1861)
5) Sarah Terral (Thomas) (1801-1870)
6) James Stephens Terral, Rev. (1811-1879)
Artalissa's mother, believed to be Susannah (maiden name possibly Hamilton), wrote in Rev. War pension document that her first husband (Artalissa's father), John Stephens, was killed by Indians.
Ten years after her Susanna Artalissa's father's death, her mother married Thomas Townsend.
