Albert Ruffing, life long resident, Dies Sun.


Albert Ruffing, 67, life long resident of Niobrara County died at Niobrara Memorial Hospital Sunday. Memorial service was conducted Tuesday afternoon at Peet Mortuary Chapel.

Albert A. Ruffing was born December 15, 1914, to Christ and Gertrude Marking Ruffing. He attended schools in Niobrara County and graduated from Lusk High School in 1932. He joined the Civil Conservation Corps in 1934 and was stationed in Pinedale and California.

On July 4, 1936, Albert Ruffing and Gertrude Wilson were married at Powell. He worked on construction and in the ranching business with his father and brothers until 1947 when he moved to his present home north of Lusk. For 23 years he was employed by the Wyoming Highway Department retiring in October, 1979.

The Rev. Frank Bozart officiated at the funeral. Music was provided by Elizabeth Craske, organist, and Mark Lohr who sang "Whispering Hope" and "How Great Thou Art."

Casket bearers were Douglas Sides, Phil Brewster, Blake Ford, Durl Holtz, Clifford Ferris and Denis Peterson. Honorary bearers were H. E. Hansen, James Pfister, Jack Larson, Kenneth Gropp, Gene Bartow, Walter Reed, Carl Peterson, William Miller, Lloyd Coleman, Clifford Cox, Lyle Miles, Ralph Jordan, Henry Meyers, Frank Rohrer and Clarence Patton. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Cancer Fund.

Mr. Ruffing was preceded in death by a son Lawrence; daughter Carol; his parents; two sisters Thelma and Luella; and brother, Henry.

He is survived by his wife Gertrude; son Robert of McCook, Neb., daughter Donna of Laramie; three brothers, Edward of Hyattville, Jennings of Lusk and Robert of Ontario, Ore.; two sisters, Monica Erny of Alliance, Nebr., and Beatrice Avenell of Story; two grandchildren, Lori and Brian Ruffing.
