Married Esther S. (Banks) Taylor 6 Oct 1924, in Marshall, MI. She was born in 1872 in Cuba, IN, dgtr of Wm. R. and Catherine (Volkart) Banks.

There are discrepancies in the date of birth for Casper, Jr., as is the case for several of his siblings. He was the first-born son among his siblings, so gravestone birth year is likely inaccurate. His next older sibling Eliza claimed birth date of 9 Mar 1873. His next younger sibling August claimed birth date of 15 Sept 1875. If Eliza's birth date of March 1873 is correct, Casper, Jr., was probably born in 1874 or 1875, and brother August in 1875 or 1876 (1876 is calculated from August's age on his marriage license). On 1880 census, Casper is recorded to be 5, and brother August 4. Casper's WW I draft card claimed birth date of 15 Aug 1875, one month before birth date claimed for brother August. On 1900 census, Casper's birth is recorded Jan 1875. His death certificate has birth date of 15 Aug 1876, with informant being his wife. Considering his birth order and all dates on record, it seems that Casper, Jr.'s, birth year was 1874 or 1875, with month and day uncertain.

The Albion Recorder on Wed., 4 April 1928 (wife, parents, and sibling names are added):
The death of Casper Custer occurred after a few days' illness with pneumonia at his temporary home on Austin Avenue, last evening at nine o'clock. Mr. Custer, who had been a resident of Albion, MI, and vicinity for the past 18 years, was employed at the Gale Manufacturing Company's plant. His home was in Jackson, at 113 Summit Street, but during the week he lived in bachelor quarters in the western outskirts of this city. Until recently he was a farmer at Parnell. The deceased is survived by his widow Esther; sisters Caroline "Carrie" Haenggi of Olney, IL, Mary Ruedy DeJuren of Chicago, IL, Eliza "Lida" Worden of Alma, and Nellie Kappler of Mount Pleasant; brothers August of Olivet, and Robert and Rudolf of Claremont, Illinois. There are no children. He was preceded in death by his parents Casper, Sr., and Caroline (Wirtz) Custer; and, a brother Albert. Funeral services will be held Saturday at one o'clock at the Fisher Chapel, and interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Jackson.
