Egbert S. Puff died at his home in Middletown, Saturday morning, from paralysis. He was stricken two years ago and has steadily become worse, having for the past three months been entirely helpless. Deceased was born in the town of Goshen, Jan. 9, 1842. His parents were Charles S. and Jane Voorhees Puff.
Mr. Puff was a veteran of the Civil War, having been a member of Co. K., 124th N.Y. Vols. At the battle of Chancellorsville he was wounded in the right arm, necessitating the amputation of that member at the shoulder. For several years after his term of army service ended Mr. Puff conducted a hotel in Middletown. About 1880 he purchased a farm in the town of Crawford where he resided until three years ago, when he removed to Middletown, where he has since resided.
Mr. Puff served one term as Superintendent of the Poor and had also served as Overseer of the Poor, Town Clerk and Collector in the town of Crawford. Deceased is survived by his widow, to whom he was married in 1869, and by one son, Charles Z."
