The funeral services of Mr. George L. Reever were conducted at the M.E. Church Wednesday afternoon. Elder D.M. Durhan of Albion was the officiating minister, assisted by Elder Stout. Following the sermon the Odd Fellows took charge and carried out the ritualistic honors of the order.
The deceased was born near here Dec. 25, 1862 and died in E. St. Louis May 11, 1911, aged 51 yrs. 4 mo. and 16 days. His father, the late Elias Reever was one of our pioneers and taught him the carpenters trade at which he worked during his life. Many of our houses are his handiwork.
He was married, Aug. 26, 1886 to Lydia Nadding and to this union were born six children, four of whom with the heart broken widow are left to mourn the loss of a father's tender care. The children are, Mrs. Lulu Ales, Mrs. Katie Ales, V.Q. and Chester Reever. He also left a mother, two brothers, six sisters, one of them, Mrs. J.M. Painter of our city, and four grandchildren, besides a host of friends.
Mr. Reever suffered much during his long illness but bore it with a patience and when the end drew nigh he expressed himself as ready and willing to go. He has been a faithful member of the Christian Church for more than eight years and has reared his family in a religious home.
The remains were laid to rest beside his two children in our local cemetery.
