Died, at his home in Farmington, Oct 6, 1894, of paralysis, John D. Harger, Sr., aged 85 years, 3 months and 10 days.

The deceased was born near Saratoga Springs, NY, use 26, 1809. In 1832 he was married ti Eliza Slade, of New York, and in 1833 he came to Michigan and purchased the old homestead. Three years later, with his family he settled on this farm, named by him Briar Hill," where he has since resided, nearly 58 years. In 1870 his wife Eliza departed this life, and ten years later his only daughter, Maria L. followed the mother, leaving the deceased and his only son Oscar S. to mourn their......

The deceased was a hard working, honest and highly respected citizen, always ready with a helping hand to assist the needy. During the 58 years of permanent location on Briar Hill he became familiarly known to all as "Uncle Johnnie D."

The funeral was held at the Universalist Church at farmington on Monday, Oct. 8th, Rev, Mr. Nash, of Holly, officiating and the remains laid to rest in the North Farmington Cemetery.

And catch a gleam of the snowy sail."

The bereaved family wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted them in their hour of affliction.
