He married Catherine Christillia Woodward b.2-22-1866 Cherokee, San Saba, TX d. 5-3-1940 Cherokee, San Saba, TX, on 9-15-1886, Llano, TX, daughter of the famous first pioneers of San Saba, Tx, Lewellen Bainbridge Woodward (Paps) and Jamima Jester (Woodward)buried at Kuykendall Cemetery.
Benjamin Eli worked as a farmer,a Blacksmith,a driver in earlier 1900's, and worked as a street cleaner around 1930. His father was in Civil War and was wounded and sent home where he later died. Benjamin Eli was born in Alabama then moved to Louisiana as a young child where his mother married Albert Frontroy late 1860's/early 1870's and had two or three children (one may have died in LA), then moved on to Cherokee, San Saba, TX. Later he and Catherine moved to Ft. Worth, TX where he died. Catherine married again to W.C. Crofford and moved back to San Saba, TX and later died there.
