Lived at Marlin, Tx, where he was in the general merchandise business, for about 10 years. He later moved to Colorado City and entered the cattle business. About 1885 he moved to Waco where he was president of the Citizens National Bank from 1887 to 1890. At the time of his death, Davis was president of the Waco Loan and Trust Company, the largest stockholder in the Waco Drug Co., a shareholder of Waco Dry Goods Co., vice-president of Planters Natl. Bank of Rosebud which he organized, director of Marlin Cotton Oil Co. and owner of an oil mill in Valley Mills, TX. He also owned farms and ranches in McLennan, Falls, Concho, and Sterling Counties. Davis was a member of several fraternal ogranizations, including Mason, Odd Fellows, Shriners, and Nights Templar.
