Father, Alexander West, 1776-1852, a veteran of the War of 1812 and in a Kentucky unit that was in the battle of New Orleans, is buried in the West Cemetery, Frymire, Breckinridge Co., KY. Alexander and oldest son, William James, and William's son, James, died of small pox in 1852 and were buried in the yard of their home in burial boxes supplied by the neighbors. William's wife and son, Henry Washington West, dug the graves. In the Kentucky Death Records, 1852-1965, listed as also dying in 1852 and very possibly of smallpox, were Sarah Ann West, 21, and Eli West, 11, children of William James and Mary 'Polly' Snyder West.
Place of burial of mother, Mary 'Polly' Burton West, is unknown. At the time of Alexander's death, he was listed as a widower.
